I Grabbed Some Frozen Strawberries
I noticed that my last blog (the one with the Coconut Records song) seems give the impression that my life has been pretty bleak recently but, truth be told, it’s been anything but. I don’t know where to start, really, but how about I just give a bit of a run-down of the highlights of the last week or two?
Oh wait, before that, I should answer the question I asked. Why the song? Well, Lexie and I broke up, and it seemed like a good enough soundtrack for that moment. I don’t really want to go into it too much more than that, because, well, this is a pretty public place!
Anyway, the other night (last Saturday, even), I went to see Little Scout at the Hopetoun. Little Scout have been one of my favourite Australian bands to see live for a while now, and tonight was no exception. They were pretty fun and awesome! Played some nice new stuff, so I’m hoping they release something soon. Other support Kyu were also surprisingly good – surprisingly because last time I saw them (at Essential Festival, I think) they weren’t bad, but they didn’t really grab me. But the Hopetoun is much more up close and personal, which suited the girls really well, and they put on a really nice show. Very happy! I was supposed to go with Bill and Andy, but Bill had to go to Canberra for Fathers’ Day, so it was just Andy and I. Bill was missed, but it wasn’t an entirely bad thing, if you know what I mean (don’t worry if you don’t know what I mean, I will probably explain later).
Skip to Thursday, and Tom finally reaped the rewards of his 21st present from Steve, Lizzie and I: Beatles Rock Band! While he and Lizzie were on their way over, Tom suggested I get a case of Beez Neez. Clearly he had more foresight than I in this matter, and over the course of the afternoon and evening, together (together also including Steve, Andy and Bill) we consumed the entire case plus half another of Corona. Whew. Not a bad effort, right? Also present during the evening was Steve’s boyfriend Eve (Evan) (forgive me if he did, in fact, consume beer), who seemed very nice, although I didn’t really get to talk to him as he and Steve were making out on the couch most of the time. While I was dropping Andy off at the station, Bill somehow managed to get so drunk that he started hitting on Tom – or at least Tom’s hair – and Lizzie had to resort to cries of “No touching!” Kudos to anyone who gets the reference – nobody did, so she had to continue saying it until I got home to laugh.
And then whoa, another night out last night! It was Res Ball time again, although this year it was known as Res Circus because, well, it was circus-themed. I went as a snake charmer, and somehow managed to survive most of the night unembarrassed (save the first half-hour or so). See the picture of my costume for evidence. We only stayed around for a few hours, but it was pretty fun! Rob and Taylor and other people were the band, and they were pretty fun. I also ate too much delicious fairy floss, although not as much as I aimed to at the start. Oh, and I got a caricature drawn of myself! It’s pretty funny, but is further proof I did in fact wear a pillow case and plastic snake on my head.

Actually, if you want to know what I mean but you don’t know (see end paragraph 3), ask me. It’s pretty exciting and lovely, but I feel odd writing it here.
Uni is getting me down, dudes. So much work, despite the fact that I’m only doing three subjects this semester. PMP is insane, Games Development is a little stressful (mostly because I still don’t know Objective-C, although I’ve become de facto Flash animator, which suits me fine), and I have a Spanish exam on Thursday. Woo? That said, it’s been pretty fun and interesting. Well, at least the second two have. And the bit from the previous paragraph.
